Job Description:


This position will provide support in their assigned manufacturing area for both internal and external operations. Support will include day to day management/issue resolution and also have emphasis on strategic optimization of the manufacturing network. The incumbent will initiate and execute productivity efforts to drive efficiency and cost savings. Project management, particularly the execution phase at the manufacturing site, is a key thrust of this position. Projects will link to the brand team’s new business and commercialization needs (new product launch and line extensions) and will also include productivity, quality improvement, internalization of volume from contract manufacturers to plants, etc. This is a key position which is expected to know the detail of the manufacturing operation including cost drivers, purchasing strategy of inputs to the manufacturing process, and knowledge of current and future capabilities.

Strong interpersonal skills and leadership are required. It is expected that the incumbent is flexible in a variety of manufacturing settings and can proactively connect disparate pieces of information, recommend solutions, and drive a plan of action.

They will partner with the Director of Product Supply and their supervisor as required. Additional duties at the discretion of their supervisor.


  • Accountable for the internal and external manufacturing network to provide full operations support. This includes day to day support and issue resolution, proactive monitoring of costs and quality, leading feasibility and scoping requests in their facilities to provide data and recommendations for their leadership and execution of assigned projects. Knowledge base for the manufacturing aspects of their brands to include procurement strategy linkage of input materials, financial ownership, and technical expertise of the manufacturing process.

  • Cost of goods management and productivity to include identification of productivity opportunities and recommendation of productivity initiatives. Drive cost savings through the execution of productivity and/or margin enhancing projects. Provide data to support contract negotiations for their supervisor to include such information as benchmarking of manufacturing loss percentages, cost of goods comparisons, etc.

  • Further the Quality agenda for their manufacturing network. Partner with Quality, recommend improvement areas and channel resources to improve. Assess new vendors and drive their qualification. Point of escalation for quality action plan resolution.

  • Provide manufacturing inputs to the Product Supply organization to include shift yield data, start up curve information, planning parameters. Partner with Product Supply to understand business service and inventory. Suggest, as needed, long term capacity options and execute agreed upon solutions (capital projects for capacity expansion, alternate sourcing at copacker, etc).

  • Compile data for the KPI/plant and vendor scorecard and facilitate monthly review.

  • Drive risk management and supply/business continuity planning.

Experience, Skills, Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • Ten plus years manufacturing, operations, and/or contract manufacturing experience required

  • Supervisory experience or proven skills to lead and motivate personnel. Influence management skills

  • Financially savvy specific to COGS, Bills of Material and Supply Chain Finance. Sound understanding of P&L in a growing CPG organization.

  • Excellent relationship building skills at all levels of the company along with co-packers, vendors and customers.

  • Thought leadership to assess situations and data, then recommend initiatives, projects, and improvement opportunities.

  • ERP Experience required, preferably JD Edwards

  • Proficiency in the entire Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Dynamics

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead and participate in cross functional teams needed

  • Drive for results, challenge of status quo and independent thinker

  • Strong Project Management Skills

  • Excellent relationship building skills required

  • Highly self-motivated with a passion for team building

  • Candidates must be detail oriented, analytical and extremely well organized
